This is a three layer reduction print.
Instead of using a different block for each color, the exact same block is used for the whole image.
Because the block is cut away for each new layer, the block is eventually destroyed. This means no more prints can ever be made once the edition is finished.
This piece is printed using oil based ink printed onto Nepalese handmade paper. The paper is a wonderful, tactile material, that always brings me joy to print on.
I wanted to experiment with reduction printing by working on a small piece where I could play with colours and layering, as a pre-curser to a bigger project I'm about to start...I was enjoying the idea and process so committed to a small run of 20….well 19… (One for me).
Since this was a project of fun and experimentation, they are kept at a lower price.
This is a hand made item, there will be imperfections, difference in some inked areas, some will have slight fraying in areas of the fabric...these aren't computer/ipad made prints!
